Valley Schools to Adopt 4-Day School Week

(CALEDONIA) The Valley R-VI School District in Caledonia will move to a four-day school week next school year. The idea behind the change is to help recruit and retain good teachers, and Superintendent Jason Samples says the change was very popular with people in the district.
Samples says a four day school week should not impact student achievement.
Samples added that an extra day off will help students and families find time for things that a five-day week makes difficult, such as appointments. It will also allow older students more time for a job or apprenticeship program. The new calendar was approved at the February 15th Valley R-VI School Board meeting.
