Vedasto “Ding” Milay Losbanos, 92, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at St. Crispin Living Community. He was born February 6, 1932, in Panglao Bohol, Philippines, to Florentino and Calixta (Milay) Losbanos. He married Pacita Espere on April 29, 1962. Vedasto worked as a college professor and as a registrar in the admissions department at the Philippine Maritime Institute. He was petitioned by his brother in Chicago for over 20 years before he was able to come to the United States, arriving in 1999. He lived in Chicago for 3 years and then moved to Detroit Lakes, MN by his brother-in-law. He eventually located to Red Wing to be near his daughter, where he lived at Jordan Towers. Vedasto enjoyed the Red Wing community and was able to bike to all the places he needed to—whether it was swimming laps at the YMCA, spending time at the library or fishing at the Levee. Faith was an important part of his life and he had been a devoted member at the Church of St. Joseph. He had also assisted with the CCD classes Holy Trinity in Goodhue. Vedasto had a warm and joyful personality and was always very hospitable.

He is survived by his children, Renato Losbanos and Jean Losbanos both of the Philippines and Sally (Joe Zignego) Losbanos of Goodhue; 2 grandchildren, Louis (Ryan Neigbauer) Losbanos of Lakeville and Jerome Losbanos of Philippines. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1995; 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Brandon Theisen presiding. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Following the funeral, his body will be cremated. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
