Viburnum’s Payne Reaches 1,000 Career Points

(Viburnum) Viburnum junior Katelee Payne scored her 1,000th career point in a 74-69 loss to Lesterville Tuesday night on the basketball court.

Katelee says that reaching the milestone is a weight off her shoulders.

Payne says the achievement has a number of familial implications.

At the same time, Payne feels that she has more to accomplish with her time in high school. She’s already looking forward to her senior season next year.

Katelee Payne and the Viburnum Lady Jays have a record of 8-15 and they play their final regular season game Thursday evening on the road against the 15-8 Ellington Lady Whippets.

After that game, post season play begins for the Viburnum girls.

They are the 5-seed in Class 1 District 2 Tournament which will be played at Lesterville High School.

Viburnum’s first round matchup will be against 4-seed St. Paul of Farmington Tuesday night at 7:30.

The Lady Giants have a record of 11-12.
