(FARMINGTON) – It took a comeback effort, but the second-seeded North County Raiders advanced past the third-seeded Farmington Knights 3-1 in the Class 3 District 1 soccer semifinals on KREI Monday. The Knights found the opening goal in the 12th minute off the counter-attack.

But the Raiders answered back with Peyton Cheek heading in the equalizer 15 minutes later. Then Brandt Vickers put North County ahead before the end of the first half with another header. He then had the play of the game in the second half which sealed the match.

Raiders coach Rob O’Keefe said he’s glad they got the win but he knows they can perform better.

North County is now 14-7 and will take on Cape Central in the district title game Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Farmington ends its season at 2-13.
