Washington County Collector Arrested Again

(Potosi) The Washington County Collector has been arrested again and faces another felony stealing charge.

Carla Zettler is accused of using county funds after she wrote a check from the Collector’s Tax Maintenance Fund where no money can be used from that account for personal use.

Zettler wrote the check from the county account to pay for copies of three years of trustee deeds from the Recorder of Deeds in defense of her previous charges.

She posted a 10-thousand dollar bond and was ordered not to use any county funds for personal use.

The 50-year old Mineral Point woman was charged last week with three felonies of stealing, forgery and official misconduct for receiving cash fees collected from trustee property sales.

Two Washington County employees and a former employee of the Collectors office also face similar charges.

According to county officials, Zettler continues to work in the Washington County Collector’s office.
