Washington County Man Charged In Connection With Stolen UTV
A man from Washington County has been charged after allegedly stealing a UTV, and then wrecking the vehicle while trying to escape law enforcement.
The Daily Journal reports that 30-year old Jeffery Paul Skaggs of Cadet has been charged after the September incident.
The charges are first-degree felony tampering, resisting a lawful stop, and leaving the scene of an accident.
When an officer ordered Skaggs to stay where he was, the man instead sped off through a wooded area near Route AA.
Skaggs would eventually lose control of the vehicle, and the UTV slid off the roadway and into a ditch.
After the UTV overturned and flipped a few times, Skaggs attemped to flee on foot.
After getting away, Skaggs was eventually located a few days later and apprehended.
He is being held at the Washington County Jail on a $35,000 bond.
