(Potosi) A Potosi man is in trouble with the law in Washington County after being charged with raping a child and several other similar charges.

According to casenet.com, 37-year-old William Taft Skaggs is facing the felonies of first degree rape or attempted rape of a person less than 12 years old, first degree sodomy or attempted sodomy of a victim less than 12, second degree child molestation of a victim less than 12, two counts of third degree child molestation of a victim under 14 and an incest charge.

In an interview, the victim told investigators Skaggs allegedly had sex with her, he also attempted to undress the victim and touch her inappropriately on numerous occasions.

Skaggs is still in the Washington County Jail.

However, in a bond reduction hearing today, he did have his bond reduced by 50-thousand dollars to 200-thousand dollars.

Skaggs’ preliminary hearing is set for April 28th at the courthouse in Potosi.
