(Potosi) We are in the midst of the hottest and most dangerous portion of 2023.

This heat wave is expected to last through Friday.

We spoke to Cara Sims, a public health nurse with the Washington County Health Department in Potosi.

She says this next week is going to be very threatening to your health if you stay outside for too long.

Sims shares with us symptoms of heat exhaustion and she tells us what drinks to avoid this week.

It looks like this dangerous heat wave will be with us until the weekend.

Saturday’s high temperature is expected to be in the mid to upper 80s.

Sunday and next Monday, the high temperature is forecast to be around 80 degrees.
