Watch for Farming Equipment and Deer on Roadways this fall season

(Jefferson County) With the fall season in full swing regional farmers will be harvesting their crops in the coming weeks.

During that time motorists may encounter farm machinery on the road in rural areas.

Corporal Juston Wheetley with the Missouri State Highway Patrol reminders drivers to share the road.

Last year there were 199 traffic crashes involving farm equipment in the state. In those crashes, two people were killed and 73 were injured.

In addition to farm equipment during the fall, motorists need to be aware of deer crossings.

Last year, drivers in Missouri experienced 3,639 traffic crashes where deer-vehicle strikes occurred. One deer strike occurred every 2.4 hours in the state.

In these crashes, there were five fatalities and 348 people were injured.
