Water Safety Tips for Children

(Farmington, Mo.) As the temperatures keep rising in the southeast part of the Show Me state that means more people are headed to waterways and pools to cool off. Lakes, rivers and pools can be lots of fun, however, if the right precautions aren’t taken they can be dangerous. Doug Rose is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Parkland Health Center in Farmington and he says children are especially vulnerable to dangers around water.

Rose says teaching children how to swim or taking them to swim lessons at a young age could save their lives in the future.

Rose adds that wearing sunscreen is equally important for both children and adults when spending time near bodies of water.
