Wayne County Man is Latest to Gain State Fish Record

(Williamsville) A man from Wayne County is the latest to claim a state record fish.

John Garver of Williamsville was with friends and family May 1st at Duck Creek Conservation Area, just north of Puxico.

He was thrilled when he brought this record-breaker out of the water by way of bowfishing.

Garver says bowfishing is an easy sport to get into.

The state record spotted sucker weighed in at 3 pounds and 6 ounces, beating the old record by more than a pound.

This was the 7th state record fish caught in Missouri this year.

Garver says he’s got the fish in his freezer and is currently deciding whether or not to mount it.
