(Leadwood) After a doubleheader last night, the Class 3 District 3 Championship Game is set for girl’s hoops.
In the first semifinal, the West County Lady Bulldogs dominated the Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers in a 50-19 victory. It was a tightly contested first quarter, but West County exploded offensively in the second. The Lady Bulldogs were getting contributions from everyone and took a 30-8 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Bulldogs Junior Lilly James started to dial in beyond the arc.
James was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with three 3-pointers and nine points. Head Coach Bobby Simily says it was a great victory all around for his team.
West County improves to 21-4 and Arcadia Valley ends the season at 5-20.
In the second semifinal, Grandview used a 16-2 fourth quarter run to beat Greenville 65-42. The Bears started the game firing from three to keep things close.
Grandview went up 31-23 at the half thanks to a couple threes from freshman Catherine Wakeland. She carried that momentum over into the second half.
That was the last made bucket for Greenville in the game with their final two points coming from the free throw line. Wakeland made five three’s in all but finished the game with a layup.
Wakeland was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game. Her sister, junior Anna Belle Wakeland, collected 21 points and 15 rebounds.
Grandview coach Tim Winkler is hoping the Eagle faithful will make the trek down south for the championship game.
Grandview improves to 16-7. Greenville ends their season at 10-13. Grandview and West County will play for the Class 3 District 3 championship Thursday night.
J98 will be back at West County Tuesday evening for the boys semifinals. First up is 17-7 Kingston taking on 9-15 Arcadia Valley followed by 12-13 West County against 17-7 Greenville. The Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show will begin at 5:15 on The Boot and online at MyMoInfo.com.
