The West County Bulldogs baseball team has made it to the state quarterfinals for the third consecutive season after a dramatic 11-10 walk-off win in sectionals against Valley Park.

They will now play on the road against the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders Wednesday on KREI for a chance at the Final Four.

The Bulldogs are receiving votes in the state rankings and their record now sits at 21-6. West County was led in the contest against Valley Park by senior Hayden Roney, who hit two home runs.

He’ll get his chance to pitch against the Crusaders according to head coach John Simily.

Meanwhile for Saxony Lutheran, it took 11 innings to defeat last year’s state champ Malden, but the 10th ranked team in the state was eventually able to come through, capturing a sectional victory by a final score of 9-8.
The Crusaders are now 21-3 after a 2-2 start to the season and head coach Paul Sander recaps their contest from Monday.

State quarterfinal action between West County and Saxony Lutheran starts on Wednesday with the Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show beginning at 4:15 on AM 800 KREI.
