West County Boys Basketball Seeking Rebound Season

(Leadwood) The West County Bulldogs boys basketball team is poised for a turnaround after finishing last year at 7-17 for the team’s first single-digit win season in over two decades.

Head coach Chris LaBruyere says he expects the team to return to their aggressive and physical brand of Bulldogs basketball.

West County graduated four players from last year’s team – Cody Moore, Tanner Morgan, Klayton Skiles, and Cameron Stevens.

They have plenty of talent returning with three seniors – Grady Masters, Chris Porterfield, and Noah Winch.

Several other key players will be the twin brothers of Mason and Michael Simily, Matthew Menzel, freshman Garrison Turner and Bismarck transfer Jace Campbell.

LaBruyere breaks down how the team has been gearing up for the season and what he’s most excited about.

Over his first nine seasons at the helm of the West County boys basketball program, LaBruyere has led the team to over 140 wins and has averaged over 16 wins per season.

The expectation is that despite a down year last year, the Bulldogs will not be down long.

LaBruyere says he anticipates midway through the season to be when his team will be rounding into form.

The Bulldogs open the season on Tuesday when they travel to take on the Clearwater Tigers.
