West County Bulldogs Starting Spring Baseball Strong

(Leadwood) Springtime means the West County Bulldogs are back on the baseball diamond. The Bulldogs went 11-10 last year, but this year’s squad sees a mixture of key returners and young freshmen to round out the roster. Head Coach Bobby Simily says that he is excited to see his team this spring.

Coach Simily was busy this winter, leading the West County Lady Bulldogs basketball team to their first-ever Show-Me Showdown in Springfield. He says that he is in baseball mode now.

Simily says there isn’t a lot of power in the Bulldogs batting order, but some upperclassmen will provide enough punch at the plate.

Simily is most excited about his pitching staff led by lefty ace J.D. Whitter.

West County went 2-0 at the Jefferson Opening Weekend Tournament on Saturday. The Bulldogs will host North County on Thursday.
