(LEADWOOD) The West County Bulldogs have done it again and are Class 3 District 3 champions for the 3rd year in a row, knocking off the Herculaneum Blackcats 13-0 in 5 innings on Wednesday on AM 1400 KJFF.

A sac fly by Hayden Roney brought in the first run of the game for the Bulldogs. The big inning came in the bottom of the 3rd as the Bulldogs piled on 7 runs behind a 2-run triple from Dakota Dowd and a 2-run double by Ty Simily. All of the offense set up Zach Francis in relief to clinch the district title.

West County’s Hayden Roney totaled 4 innings pitched with one hit allowed and 7 strikeouts, earning Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game honors. He also had an RBI, a single, and a run scored. Bulldogs head coach John Simily knew that Hayden was the guy to get them back to state.

Herculaneum’s season ends with a 12-10-1 record. After the game, head coach Zac Bone had some parting words for his team and his 6 seniors.

The 19-6 West County Bulldogs advance to the Class 3 Sectionals for the 3rd year in a row and will face the winner of Valley Park and Hancock, who play on Thursday at 4:30. The state playoffs begin on Monday.
