West County Fends Off Bismarck In MAAA Conference Matchup On KREI

(Leadwood) Another dominant performance from pitcher JD Whitter and timely hitting gave West County the 4-0 win over Bismarck Tuesday on KREI. The Bulldogs piled on three runs in the bottom of the second including a three-bagger from junior Trey Wright.

Bismarck may have struggled at the plate but their gloves were working quite well.

In the end it was Whitter who paced the game from the start and closed it out for the win.

Whitter was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with a complete game two-hitter and 16 strikeouts. Whitter was perfect through 5 1/3 innings before giving up an infield single. Bulldogs coach Bobby Simily has all the confidence in the world in his senior pitcher.

West county improves to 7-1 and is set to face Kingston Wednesday. Bismarck moves to 5-2-1 and is scheduled to play Valle Catholic Thursday.
