(CALEDONIA) A strong second quarter propels the No. 2 West County (2-0) girls basketball team to the 28th Annual Valley Caledonia Basketball Tournament championship game with a 62-28 win over the three-seed Valley Caledonia (2-1) tonight on J98.

The Bulldogs structured a seven-point lead after the first frame, and built upon that foundation outscoring the Vikings 21-8 in the second.

Caledonia scored 10 points in the third, but only managed two in the final frame as West County advances to the championship game.Cheyenne Young secured a game-high 15 points while Dori McRaven and Allee Drennen were a lone digit behind with 14 each. Madison Lucas led the Vikings with nine.

Bulldogs head coach Chris Brewer says the championship rematch from 2016 with South Iron will be difficult.
