(LEADWOOD) – It has been an impressive season so far for the West County Bulldogs girls basketball team. At 14-3, the team has rolled through its first half schedule with a second place finish at the Valley Caledonia Tournament and a championship in their own holiday tournament. On Tuesday, head coach Chris Brewer earned his 200th career victory as coach of the Bulldogs. Despite the milestone, Brewer says he shouldn’t get all the credit.

The Bulldogs have put together a string of victories despite missing senior point guard Ivy Meinershagen for the last few weeks due to an illness. Coach Brewer says filling the starting point guard role has been by committee, but many players have performed well in Meinershagen’s absence.

Brewer says once the team is fully healthy, there are promising signs for the final stretch of the regular season.

The West County girls will put an eight-game winning streak on the line next Tuesday when they go on the road to face Grandview.
