(FARMINGTON, Mo.) – The West County Bulldogs came out the victor of a very competitive high school volleyball match Thursday night on the MyMoInfo SportStream, capturing the win over the St. Paul Giants in three sets, 25-20, 24-26, and 25-18.

The opening set saw West County take a commanding 20-15 lead, only to be tied at 20-20 thanks in large part to three aces from junior setter Hollie Davis.

The Bulldogs would strike back with five straight points of their own however to go up 1-0.

St. Paul was in control for virtually all of the second set, taking a 24-19 lead and looking at five chances to earn set point.

They would not though, as a comeback effort by West County led by junior Dream-Teamer Dori McRaven tied the set at 24 all.

It was an attacking error by McRaven at 24-25 however after a long rally that ultimately gave St. Paul a second set win.

McRaven would eventually be our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game, as West County cruised in the third set 25-18 to get the win, and senior Makenzie Simily put on the finishing touches.

Head coach Jill Simily liked the fight from her team all night, even in the set they dropped.

With the victory, West County is now 4-0 and have Fredericktown on the road next Thursday.
St. Paul falls to 2-2 and will go to Bourbon on Tuesday for their next matchup.
