Western Wildfires Leads to Hazy Midwest Skies

(Jefferson County) Many may have noticed a hazy or milky appearance in the sky the past couple of days.

Fred Glass is a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis. He says the layer of haze or milky cloud look isn’t due to a developing weather system, instead its smoke from western wildfires.

Glass says there might be an impact on air quality from time to time, but most to if not all the smoke is expected to remain at high altitudes in the atmosphere.

The smoke is expected to push out of the region by early next week.
