(BUNKER) – In the boys semi-finals of the Black River League Tournament Thursday night, the 3-seed Ellington Whippets dashed past the seventh-seeded East Carter Redbirds 70-54. Unlike the first semi-final of the night, both teams were up and down the court pushing the pace, as the first half combined for 68 points with a 37-31 Ellington lead. The Whippets were lead by Dravin Helferstay and Brycen King as they combined for half of the team’s point total.

Ellington head coach Jeremy Peterson said his team was a bit over zealous.

It will be #1 vs. #3 as South Iron and Ellington vie for the BRL tournament crown on Saturday night on J-98. Coverage will begin at 5:45 p.m.
