Widespread Uncontrolled Spread of Coronavirus now in Jefferson County

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Health Department has officially moved the county to the highest alert status of Red, which means Covid-19 is currently seeing a widespread uncontrolled community transmission of the killer virus.

There are several data sources that are considered when evaluating community transmission of COVID-19.

The main indicator used is the seven-day rolling average of cases per day/per 100,000 residents.

The rolling average has hit 25.46, just over the 25-case threshold to move to red.

Specifically, COVID-19 case totals in Jefferson County increased 391 cases in the last seven days with an estimated 13.6% positivity rate among tests.

Jefferson County now has 3,248 confirmed cases.

882 are active and there are 49 people dead in the county because of the virus.
