Wildfire Danger Diminishing across the Region

(Southeast Missouri) A combination of a large controlled burn and actual wildfires the first weekend of April had firefighters busy.

Mark Twain National Forest Ranger Becky Ewing says they had a big crew doing a burn along the Washington and Iron county line.

And about three weeks ago, Ewing says the forest service had to battle a pretty big wildfire in Madison County the old-fashioned way.

Ewing says wildfire concerns are diminishing somewhat as most areas have started greening up in southeast Missouri.
