(HILLSBORO) One-half of the 64th Annual Gene Steighorst Invitational quarterfinals are in the books as 5th-seed Windsor and top-seed Hillsboro both advanced tonight on AM 1400 KJFF.

The Windsor Owls upset 4th-seeded Festus 65-53 behind 16 points from Matt Martin and 15 points from Norman Alford. Martin and Alford actually collaborated on a transition bucket early in the 2nd quarter.

That gave the Owls a 24-11 lead in which they extended to 19 in the 2nd half. Owls head coach Jason Gillman thinks that his guys followed through with the game plan quite well.

The Hillsboro Hawks followed up the Owls win with an 87-30 triumph over the 8th-seeded Northwest Lions. Ethan Worley and company could not miss a shot in the first half.

Hawks head coach Dan Johnson praises his guys for the hot start.

Hillsboro and Windsor will now face off in the semifinals on Friday at 5:30 on KJFF. Festus and Northwest drop to the Consolation Bracket and will take the floor on Wednesday at 5:30.
