(HILLSBORO) The Windsor Owls and Hillsboro Hawks have advanced to the semifinals of the 63rd Annual Gene Steighorst Tournament after picking up wins Monday night over Festus and Northwest.

The first game on KJFF featured 4-seed Windsor beating 5-seed Festus 61-58 in a game of runs and close calls. The Owls had a 9-0 spurt in the 2nd quarter, taking a 16-14 lead at the midway point. The Tigers started the 2nd half with a 10-0 run to give them a 36-34 lead. With 1:19 left in the 4th it was tied at 56.

A few Windsor free throws and Festus turnovers later, the game came down to this final moment.

The 2nd game featured top seed Hillsboro routing 8-seed Northwest 67-31. Ben Lampkins for the Hawks knocked down 3 after 3 after 3, including this 3rd quarter no-doubter.

Hillsboro improves to 1-1 on the season with the victory and has earned a spot in the semis to face the 2-2 Windsor Owls on Friday at 5:30 on KJFF.
