Windsor-Central, Festus-Northwest as Steighorst continues on KJFF

(Hillsboro) The Steighorst Invitational quarterfinals continues Tuesday on KJFF.

The Windsor Owls face the Central Rebels and the Festus Tigers take on the Northwest Lions for a trip to this Friday’s semifinals.

In game one, Windsor looks to continue a strong start to the year against the team from Park Hills.

The Owls have won three of their first 4 games behind sophomore Brenton Shirk and juniors Nolan Hirth and Max Hartmann.

Head coach Ryan McArthy says his guys are feeling it early in the season.

Central comes off an impressive 83-49 victory in their season opener, where star sophomore guard Jobe Bryant poured in a career-high 42 points.

But Rebels head coach Brad Gross thinks this week is going to truly test his team.

In the second quarterfinal of the night, Festus will look for their second victory of just this season against the squad from Cedar Hill.

The Tigers unfortunately followed up that win before Thanksgiving by falling to Central Friday night.

With stars like junior point guard Arhmad Branch and senior wing Cole Rickermann, Festus head coach Jason Therrell is hopeful his squad meets the challenge of this week.

Northwest has had to stew on their November 30th loss, having not played since their 2-0 start got broken up.

The Lions believe they can be imposing behind sophomore forwards Alex Drexler and Stefan Higgins.

But head coach Jeremy Moss says their first objective against the Tigers is playing better defense.

Festus faces Northwest after Windsor battles Central.

Coverage from the Steighorst Invitational begins with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show Tuesday evening at 5 on AM 1400 KJFF.
