Windsor’s Montgomery signs to play softball at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville

(Imperial) A star on the softball field for the Windsor Owls will continue playing in college.

Owls senior Piper Montgomery has committed to play at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

Montgomery explains why she chose to join the Cougars.

Montgomery was a Class 4 all-state catcher in her final season at Windsor.

The senior hit .500 and bashed 6 home runs and 36 runs batted in.

Montgomery says she has made strides behind and at the plate by gaining confidence.

And that confidence comes from the people Montgomery says have helped her along the way.

Montgomery helped Windsor finish 13-11 and reach the Class 4 District 2 semifinals.

SIUE is a NCAA Division I team and member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Cougars went 13-5 prior to the cancellation of their season in the spring of 2020.
