Windsor softball looks to sluggers & senior star Montgomery to lead the way

(Imperial) There are plenty of reasons to get excited about Windsor High School softball in 2020.

The Owls reached their district championship game last season as part of a 12-14 campaign, and they have a chance to be even better with the return of most of their starting lineup.

Head coach Wayne Montgomery says he even feels comfortable with changes in the pitching rotation.

The biggest reason the Owls could take steps forward is catcher Piper Montgomery.

The all-conference senior posted an impressive .519 batting average last year, along with 5 home runs and 41 runs batted in.

Coach Montgomery says she’s as well rounded an athlete as a coach could hope for.

Add on the return of junior Cierra Parker and seniors Payton Irwin and Gabby Dueing, and Montgomery is optimistic about his team’s chances.

Windsor starts the 2020 season by playing in the Sullivan Tournament this weekend.
