Windsor Softball Loses Veselske, Returns Potentially Potent Squad in 2019

(IMPERIAL) The Windsor softball Owls are going into 2019 with a solid returning pitcher and another loaded lineup under 10th-year head coach Wayne Montgomery.

Last season’s number-one pitcher for the Owls was Jessica Veselske, a 2019 Regional Radio Spring Dream Team athlete and current member of Jefferson College softball.

Senior Delana Mentel is the returning right-hander that pitched behind her. Coach Montgomery likes several things about Mentel.

Typically in softball, teams like to carry a minimum of two pitchers on the staff. With that in mind, there are several candidates for Coach Montgomery for that 2nd spot.

The Windsor offense could be something special again this year with multiple hitters returning after posting batting averages in the mid-to-upper .300s as well as into the .400s. They include Payton Irwin, Piper Montgomery, and Gabby Dueing.

Looking at the schedule for Windsor softball, Coach Montgomery says that 2019 will be tough once again. It begins with the first game of the season on Thursday, September 5th at Sullivan, a team that finished 3rd at state in Class 3 last year.

Coach Montgomery is also looking forward to facing some bigger schools such as Seckman and Northwest. Windsor softball went 12-10 last season and will have 7 seniors ready to improve on that record in 2019.
