(CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.) – The Windsor Owls volleyball team made the Class 3 state semifinals after last weekend’s victories over Ste. Genevieve and Perryville, and now pool play for the Owls will take place on Friday.

At the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, the Owls will play St. Michael the Archangel at 4, Logan-Rogersville at 6, and then St. Francis Borgia at 8.

Logan-Rogersville won the state title a year ago, while St. Francis Borgia finished third.

This is St. Michael’s first year at the Class 3 level, but in 2018 they earned third place honors in Class 2.

Senior middle hitter for the Owls Abby Bailey describes the what it felt like to beat Perryville and get to the state semis.

The other senior middle, Alyssa Vaughn, says much of their success this year is a credit to the leadership of their head coach Stephany Dueker-Richmond.

No Windsor girls sports team has ever made it this far in the playoffs.

And senior defensive specialist Kennedy Detmer thinks that’s pretty special.

If Windsor finishes in the top two in pool play, then they’ll play in the state championship match at 7:30 Saturday evening.

If not, they’ll be in the third place match at 6.

Either way, you can catch the conclusion to the season for the Windsor volleyball team Saturday on J-98 The Boot.
