Windsor’s Hutchinson named Dream Team Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year

(Imperial) Mike Hutchinson of the Windsor Owls is the 2021 Regional Radio Dream Team Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year.

Hutchinson lead the Owls to a 16-9 record, but the team was at its best late in the year, making it all the way to the Class 3 state quarterfinals.

Hutchinson says he’s humbled by the recognition his teams is garnering for this special season.

Windsor won 9 of its final 11 matches this spring.

Hutchinson says the emergence of freshman forward Maddie Follmer to pair with Dream Team and all-state senior Jordan Kolinski made for a stronger attack.

But what the Owls did best down the stretch was shut down the opposing offense.

Lead by all-state senior Biz Spurgeon and senior goalkeeper Piper Montgomery, Windsor allowed only 7 total goals in their last 11 games.

Hutchinson says his team went from good to great once everybody got on the same page on defense.

Windsor won its second straight district championship and their 4th in the last 10 years.

The Owls were only upended by Notre Dame of St. Louis, who won in 3-2 in overtime of the state quarterfinals.
