Windsor’s Montgomery wraps stellar softball tenure with Dream Team nod

(Imperial) This season, Piper Montgomery capped off one of the finest softball careers that Jefferson County has seen in the last decade.

The Windsor Owls senior was rewarded with a spot on the Regional Radio Dream Team for her efforts.

Montgomery earned a third straight all-state selection as a catcher in fall softball and made it all 4 years where she was named all-conference and all-district.

But she’s still proud of this honor and is quick to thank the people who helped her along the way.

Along with strong defense behind the plate, Montgomery became one of the area’s most fearsome hitters at the dish.

Montgomery hit an even .500 this falll, including 6 home runs, 36 runs batted in and a slugging percentage just under .880.

She says, once she learned not to play head games with herself, hitting became a simpler process.

The 2-time team captain for Owls softball was also the starting goalie for the Windsor girls’ soccer team that reached the Class 3 state quarterfinals this spring.

Montgomery says she made a lot of great memories on the diamond and the pitch.

Montgomery will continue playing softball in college next season at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
