Winter Mix Possible Across Eastern Missouri on Friday

(East Central-Southeast Missouri) Forecasters at the National Weather Service are tracking the potential for more winter precipitation later this week.

Jared Maples is a Meteorologist with the St. Louis National Weather Service. He says a big storm system is going to develop over the Central Plains and track right through our region, bringing the chance of light snow on Thursday before changing over to a winter mix with the warmer air on Friday.

Maples gives us a rough estimate on how much snow and ice accumulation we could see with this system.

Other than the forecasted winter weather, Maples adds we’ll see another round of heavy rainfall Friday evening through Saturday morning and that may cause additional river flooding.

As of right now, we could see up to 2 inches of additional rainfall through Saturday.
