Work to Start Next Week on State Highway Bridge in Washington County

(Potosi) A portion of Double ‘A’ Highway in Washington County will be closed at the Fourche-A-Renault bridge, northwest of Potosi starting next week.

The shutdown could be for several months as crews work to replace the old bridge.

The bridge was built in 1960 and has reached the point where replacement is necessary.

Contractors are expected to close the road to traffic next Monday morning the 16th.

Signs are in place to alert motorists of the closure.

Motorists are asked to use Highway 8 as an alternate route during the bridge construction.

The road near the Fourche A Renault bridge on double ‘A’ Highway is expected to be closed for up to five months.

If the weather is uncooperative, the project could be delayed even further.
