Festus Man Arrested and Charged for Reportedly Making Threats Against Festus High School

(Festus) A Festus man has been arrested and officially charged after he allegedly made violent threats against Festus High School on social media.

27-year-old Mitchell Lovelace has been charged with making a Terrorist Threat in the 2nd Degree, a Class E Felony.

Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis says Lovelace reportedly posted the threatening message on Saturday night.

Chief Lewis thanks the concerned citizen who reached out to report the threatening message.

Lovelace was arrested at his home without incident. He is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.

Festus R-6 School District officials were notified and police patrols were increased around the high school earlier this week.
