Washington County Man Arrested & Facing Sodomy Charges in Shannon County

(Shannon County) The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control announces the arrest of a Washington County man.

36-year-old Caleb R. Cooley of Potosi was arrested in connection to a sexual assault investigation involving a child which began last month.

On July 27th, a juvenile female disclosed that beginning in March of this year and continuing into this summer, Cooley allegedly sexually assaulted the girl multiple times.

During the investigation, Cooley was contacted by investigators who requested to search his cell phone.

Apparently Cooley gave consent and after looking through the phone, police say they found evidence to support the allegations.

On Thursday, Cooley was arrested by the highway patrol Troop G Criminal Investigative Unit and formally charged by the Shannon County prosecuting attorney on three counts of statutory sodomy of a person less than 14-years-old.

Cooley is being held in the Howell County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
