(Hillsboro) The 23rd Judicial Circuit court in Jefferson County remains in operation but in certain phases due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Presiding Judge Darrell Missey says they are currently in phase 2, and explains how limited the process can be in each phase.

Judge Missey says they have had two positive cases within the courthouse staff which forced proceedings to fall into phase zero. He says Judge Brenda Stacey had to make the call with one of those outbreaks.

Judge Missey says jury trials are still not taking place at the courthouse in Hillsboro, while the municipal courts have started back up again and are trying to catch up. Judge Missey just began his 5th term as judge after winning re-election on Tuesday,
