(JEFFERSON R-7) Coverage of the 5th Annual Hoops for Hope Classic on KJFF tonight at Jefferson High School will begin at 6 with the Lady Blue Jays taking on the Herculaneum Lady Blackcats.

It’s a Jefferson County Small Schools Conference affair as the Blue Jays are 10-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play and Herculaneum is 8-7 overall and this will be its first conference game of the season.

Blue Jays girls head coach Brandon Joines says that a combination of ingenuity and intensity will dictate the outcome of this game.

On the flipside, Herculaneum head coach Riley Blair stresses the importance of slowing down the speed of the game against Jefferson.

Joines also addresses the significance of the event while bringing to light that his father has cancer.

Tip-off for Herculaneum and Jefferson girls is set for 6:15 with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show at 6 on AM 1400 KJFF.

Then it will be the Jefferson boys at 11-6, 0-1 in the conference, and Herculaneum at 3-9, 0-0 in the conference, to conclude the Hoops for Hope Classic. Blackcats head coach Jason Jarvis says that the simple things on offense plus stopping Null and Weik are key to winning.

Jefferson head coach Sean Breeze expresses the need for a collective effort from his guys.

Jarvis greatly appreciates the Hammock’s for getting this event going.

The Herky and Jefferson boys are tentatively scheduled to tip-off at 8:15 on AM 1400 KJFF.

Other features of the 5th Annual Hoops for Hope Classic includes a presentation of plaques to the sponsors, a Jefferson Dance Team performance, and a presentation of checks to the two families that have a student at R-7 that’s battling cancer.
