Aaron Portell Named New Festus Girls Basketball Coach

(FESTUS)    Aaron Portell who has coached the St. Pius Lady Lancers basketball team for the past twenty years will be the new girls basketball coach at Festus next season.

The Festus R-VI School Board voted unanimously Tuesday night in approving the selection of Portell to coach and also teach science classes at the high school.

Portell accumulated a record of 286-171 at St.Pius.  He also coached boys basketball while coaching the girls for six of those years.  His record with the boys was 73-78, for a cumulative record of 359-249.

Portell replaces Jake Hogan and will officially take over the program on July 1st.
