Additional lane on I-55 earmarked for 2024

(Jefferson City) On Thursday, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved road projects planned by state and regional planning agencies for fiscal years 2022 through 2026 as part of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. The approval includes plans to add a third lane of traffic to I-55’s north and southbound lanes running from Route Z in Pevely to Highway 67 just south of Festus. State Representative Becky Ruth of Festus is the House Chair for the Transportation Committee. She says many people played a part to get this project moving along.

This project is subject to the approval of the Transportation Improvement Plan by the East-West Gateway Council of Governments, and they will meet again in August.
