(De Soto) De Soto Police are reporting that several arrests have been made in connection to the stealing of two police weapons from a patrol vehicle that was parked on a city street, outside the home of an off-duty officer.

The incident happened sometime during the overnight hours of January 23rd into January 24th. De Soto Police Chief Jeff McCreary answers to how the suspects where able to get inside the police vehicle.

A rifle and shotgun were reported to be taken from the police SUV.

The two guns have since been recovered with the rifle being recovered on January 26th and the shotgun on January 27th.

When asked how police were able to track down the guns and eventually make arrests in the case, Chief McCreary had this to say.

Information on the suspects have not been released pending formal charges from the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
