Authorities Respond to Drowning on the Big River

An 11 year old boy from Jefferson County died over the weekend after drowning in the Big River.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the boy from Cedar Hill was swimming in the Big River while wearing a life jacket when he got stuck on a log in the middle of the river. He went under the water and never resurfaced.

He was then pulled from the river by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy and CPR was performed, however, he was pronounced dead just after 4 Sunday afternoon.

The drowning happened downstream from Morris Mill.
