Bill proposing moving general municipal elections to November lost traction

(Jefferson City) There was language in a bill during this legislative session that would move general municipal elections from April to November. However, the bill never came to pass and failed to make it through. State Representative Dan Shaul of Imperial, who heads the House committee on elections, says the idea had merit, but there were too many questions.

Like many others in local government and school districts, Shaul believes the November ballot would become too overwhelming.

Shaul expects this topic to be brought up again in the legislative session of 2022.
