Bismarck Girls Win Class 2 District 3 Basketball Championship
(LESTERVILLE) The Bismarck Lady Indians basketball team brought home a district championship Friday night by defeating the Lesterville Lady Bearcats, 45-38. It was a back and forth game in the first quarter, but the Lady Indians outscored Lesterville 11-4. The Lady Bearcats clawed their way back into the game in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the game was tied after some Deja vu from Wednesday’s semifinal game.

Bismarck regained control thanks to a big play by Ashley Hawkins in the final moments.

Hawkins finished with 8 points for the Lady Indians, who were led in scoring but Halie Dickey with 17 points. Sadie Lloyd led Lesterville with 17 points. Bismarck’s win was their first distract championship since 2013, and head coach Tori Cato says it’s big for the program.

Bismarck is now 20-6 with and will play Principia on Monday. Lesterville ends the season with a 16-12 record.
