Capitol Insurrectionist From Sullivan Now Charged with DWI Causing Death After Driving Wrong Way On I-44
(Sullivan) A woman from Sullivan, facing charges in the U.S. Capitol insurrection a year ago, is suspected of causing a fatal wrong-way crash on I-44 Tuesday night in Franklin County.
Court records show 22-year-old Emily Hernandez was arrested for DWI causing death.
Authorities say Hernandez was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes when she crashed into a car, killing the passenger and seriously injuring the driver.
Hernandez was also seriously injured and hospitalized.
She is supposed to make a court appearance next week in connection to the January 6th event where Trump supporters stormed the capitol, stealing items and causing destruction.
Prosecutors say Hernandez was photographed holding a broken sign fragment from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office.
