Catalytic Converter thefts reaching staggering numbers

(Jefferson County) Thefts of vehicle catalytic converters continue to be a major issue for law enforcement agencies in the region. Another theft took place earlier this week. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell says the numbers are adding up.

Bissell says most of the vehicles targeted continue to be those that sit higher off the ground.

Bissell says if this trend continues, the number of catalytic converter thefts will easily surpass the number of thefts in 2021.
