Central and Farmington to Square off in Bob Seachrest Tournament Championship; Hillsboro and South Iron to Battle for 3rd Place

The Central Rebels advance to the championship round of the Bob Seachrest Christmas Tournament for the second straight year after defeating Hillsboro 60-46. The Hawks took the lead with a 15-0 run in the first half.

Central took control in the second half with the help of a couple tough buckets.

Those were Caden Casey’s only points of the evening. Jobe Bryant led all scorers with 35 points, with Zack Boyd adding 10 more for the Rebels. Despite the big offensive night, Rebels coach Brian Gross praised his defense.

Hillsboro head coach Brian Sucharski tells us what he saw from his team in the loss.

Hillsboro’s Preston Brown had 14 points off the bench, which led the Hawks in scoring. The Hawks will play in the third place game tomorrow.

Then, the 3-seed Farmington Knights defeated the 2-seed South Iron Panthers 49-48. The Knights withstood an early swipe from the Panthers and led by nine at the half. South Iron would storm back in the second half.

Sawyer Huff finished with 14 points. The game was ended up coming down to the wire, as the Panthers had a final chance to pull out a win with one second left in the game.

Marquise Burse had another outstanding effort, as he led the Panthers with 21 points. The Knights were led in scoring by Maxon Lamonds, who scored 12 points. Farmington head coach Garrett Callahan was asked what gave Farmington the lead for most of the game.

South Iron head coach Dusty Dinkins praised Farmington after the game.

The final round of the tournament is set. 1-Central will take on 3-Farmington in the boys championship, as 2-South Iron and 4-Hillsboro fight for third place. In the girls bracket, 1-Central will face 3-South Iron for the championship as Festus takes on Fredericktown for third place. All four games will be broadcast on J-98, with pregame coverage starting at 2:45.
