Central And West County Meet for First Time This Season On KREI

(Leadwood) The Central and West County softball teams played some of the most entertaining games last season. West County defeated Central in the MAAA conference tournament championship game, but the Rebels ended the Bulldogs’ season in the district semifinals. They’ll face off for the first time this season Monday afternoon and we’ll have the call on AM-800 KREI.

West County are 8-3 but their three losses have come in the last four games. The schedule has been grueling, and coach CJ Wright could see it wearing on the girls in their 5-2 loss at Ste. Genevieve last Wednesday…

Central, meanwhile, are 3-2 with three straight wins. The Rebels have outscored their opponents 47-8 in that span. Coach Taylor Geile says her girls have been approaching the plate with a good mentality…

Both Central and West County have losses to Ste. Genevieve and Valle Catholic. Ste. Gen already clinched the MAAA regular season title for the first time in school history. The winner of this game will most likely end up the three seed in the conference tournament. Geile is excited to see how her team competes against their rivals…

CJ Wright talked a lot about mental toughness after his team’s loss to Ste. Genevieve. He believes his team will find their “Bulldog mentality” before long…

Coverage begins at 4:15 Monday afternoon on KREI. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30.
