Central Baseball Hosts Ste. Genevieve and Valle Catholic in Round Robin Wrap Up

(Park Hills, Mo.) High school baseball was played on J98 last night seeing Ste. Genevieve, Valle Catholic and Central all square off against each other at the Park Hills Sports Complex in a round robin format. The first game saw the host Rebels pitted against the Dragons of Ste. Gen and the Dragons had a slow start, but were able to pull off the comeback win 4-3 in the end thanks to a late game error by the Rebels.

Carter Klump and Nathan Selby were our Applebee’s of Farmington Players of the Game after a couple of strong performances on the mound.

The second game of the evening had a couple of district champions from 2019 in Valle Catholic and Ste. Genevieve squaring off. Valle Catholic struck first going up 2-0. However, Ste. Gen was able to battle back yet again and tie the game up with a SAC fly.

Valle would take another lead 3-2 before the Dragons would finally tie it up at 3 a piece and that is how the second game ended. Jayden and Logan Gegg, the opposing starting pitchers, were named the Applebee’s of Farmington Players of the Game. Head coach of the Dragons, Mike McDaniel says he’s proud of his team, but there is room for improvement.

The final game of the night found the Central Rebels taking on the Valle Catholic Warriors. It was all Warriors from the first pitch as Valle Catholic quickly took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Valle went on to win 6-3 after Central tacked on a couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth before the time limit was met. The Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game was Jayden Gegg again, but this time with 2 walks and 2 runs scored for the Warriors. On the night, Ste. Genevieve went 1-0-1, Central went 0-2 and Valle Catholic went 1-0-1.
